Bowl
The solid-wall bowl
has a cylindrical section for efficient
separation and
clarification of the liquid and a conical section
for drying the
solids. The product enters the decanter through
the feed and passes through the distributor into the
centrifugation space.
The liquid level in the bowl is adjustable
via the regulating
ring. Due to the centrifugal forces, the
solids particles are
flung onto the bowl wall. The hard-metal
faced scroll
transports the solids to discharge which
is armoured with
hard-metal wearing bushes. The clarified
liquid leaves the
centrifugation space via the centripetal pump
at discharge under
pressure.
Housing
The housing consists
of a frame with supporting feet, protective
plates and catchers
for the discharged product phases. The feet
permit installation
of the decanter on an even floor. A raised
base or similar
structure is normally not required. Vibration
absorbers underneath
the fact prevent most of the vibrations
from the machine
being transferred to the foundation. The
bearing housings contain
the bowl bearings and are screwed
to the frame. Parts
coming into contact with the product are
made of stainless
steel. The remaining frame parts are coated
with a largely lye
and acid resistant paint which is not affected
by impacts.
Drive
The driven by a
low-noise three-phase AC motor
designed for
heavy-duty starting. The motor is started in a
star-delta circuit.
Power is transferred
to the bowl via V-belts. The conveyor
screw is driven via
V-belts and a gear. The V-belt pulleys
can be exchanged so
as to produce various speed differentials.
The bowl bearings,
the conveyor screw bearing and the gear
are lubricated with
grease.
The drive motor is
installed beneath the bowl between the
feet of the frame to
save space and is dampened against
vibrations.
