The different milk products

Nationally and Internationally .Products like Butter, Ghee, Skim Milk Powder,
Whole Milk Powder, Dairy Whitener shall be marketed Nationally
however Skim Milk Powder, Whole Milk Powder shall be marketed Internationally
also where its export market shall be around 30 – 35% of total production.
The marketing and selling of Casein, WPC, MPC, Lactose, Di-cal, Phosphate,
Permeate Powder, DM Whey Powder in International and national market shall be
made through direct contact programme with traders and end users viz Caseinate
manufactures, baby food formulators, food, dietary and snack food formulators.
The other products viz. Casein,
WPC - 35, WPC – 60, WPC – 80,
Di Calcium Phosphate,
lactose, Demineralised Whey Powder, Co-precipitates, Permeate Powder
shall be marketed Internationally whereas Casein, Co-precipitate, WPC –
60 and WPC – 80 shall be exclusively exported to USA, Europe and
Far East Countries. The Caseinate and dairy products formulation industry
in USA and Europe are regular buyers of Casein year round. This is more so due
to its multifarious and indispensable use of Casein in different formulations.
Casein, which is a milk protein, cannot be manufactured synthetically and it
has to be extracted from milk only, which is why product is in demand always.
Products like WPC – 60 and WPC – 80 are also in great demand because of
its functionality. Whey Proteins are water-soluble proteins and are used in
formulation industry, improving the yield of cheese, formulation of
neutraceuticals etc. Due to change in food habits, dietetic control and health
consciousness in urbanites world over the demand of dietary foods and
formulated dietetic foods has increased and in all these products Casein, Whey
protein Concentrate and Permeate Powder are the integral constituents.
Di Calcium Phosphate of
milk origin is popularly known as Milk Mineral is in regular demand in
pharmaceutical industry world over due to its use in pediatric medicinal
formulation, bonemarrow transplantations etc.
In short dairy products and
by-products shall remain in demand in the years to come because of very simple
reasons increased population, change in dietary and food habits of urbanites
world over, more disposable per capita income and change in life style.
Looking to the good future Casein market
potential in the coming years of post GATT period and continuous increase in
Casein demand of milk proteins (Casein) because of its multifarious uses and
inability to manufacture Casein synthetically. Manufacturing of Casein
and allied whey products yields a good profitable product mix could be planned
in a multi product dairy unit and a good product mix will definitely result in
good profitability.

Casein, Lactose, WPC and Di Calcium Phosphate
prices are not fluctuating on day-to-day or weekly basis. International base
price of Casein is fixed on quarterly basis by New Zealand Dairy board, which
is used as a yard stick for determining the Casein prices of different
countries internationally depending upon the quality. International base price
of Casein is decided on the basis of production capacities, demand supply,
quality, authenticity time of supply etc.

The demand for Indian Casein is very good in
USA because of its buffalo milk origin having unique Casein applications in
industry. This makes Indian Casein exporters very lucrative and to realize
price equivalent to market leaders like New Zealand and Australia.

The post GATT period, beyond 2005 shall open
more markets. The flush season of milk in India i.e. October to February does
not correspond with flush season of European Union countries and USA i.e. when
India is in flush season Europe and USA shall be in lean season and vice-versa.
This seasonal non-corresponding variation creates more demand of Casein in
International market due to non-production by European Dairy plants.

Milk production in India is increasing every
year and India at present is the highest producer of milk. So in order to
maintain better production better raw milk prices should be paid to milk
producer to keep them and dairy plants in business. Therefore different value
added product manufacturing facilities are created for utilization and
conservation of increased milk production and to avoid its perishability.
6.
Since all Casein manufactured is exported,
country shall earn valuable foreign exchange, which shall make Indian economy
stronger.
7.
Export potential and demand of Casein due to
its multifarious uses is very big in United States, Japan, Canada, European
Union, Korea, Indonesia and same other countries.
About 60% of the total DM Whey
Powder produced by the unit shall be exported to Far East countries, Middle
East, USA and Pacific countries. Apart from this about 40% of the produce shall
be marketed domestically in India. In India product is being utilized by Amul Dairies,
Nestle, Reptakoss and Brett, Wockhardt, Dumex and other bakery and
confectionary units viz. Britania, Glaxo, Heinz etc.
